Jozwik (Philadelphia, PA) was part of a panel that discussed the Commerce Case Management Protocols for Alternative Dispute Resolution Procedure Using Three Judge Panel and Common Law Arbitration, also known as the "Abramson Protocols," at the 2008 Philadelphia County Bench Bar Conference held in Atlantic City. Several members of Marshall Dennehey participated in the Pennsylvania Defense Institute's first regional Continuing Legal Education program in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Matthew Keris co-organized the event and served as a moderator during a panel discussion regarding the ethical dilemmas pertaining to the tripartite relationship. One of the panelist on the tripartite relationship portion of the event was John Aponick. Additionally, Robert Smith served as a panelist discussing recent trends and developments in UM/UIM matters. Lastly, Bruce Morrison served as a co-panelist discussing recent events and trends in bad faith litigation. The event was well attended by both local defense counsel and claims representatives from many carriers. Based on the success of this initial program, it is anticipated that the PDI will make this a routine event in Northeastern Pennsylvania. (9/08)
Theodore Kobus and David Shannon's (Philadelphia, PA) article entitled, Splenda Not 'Equal' to Real Sugar in Lanham Act False Advertising Suit was recently published in the Pennsylvania Bar Association Intellectual Property Law Section's Summer Newsletter. The article analyzed a recent 3rd Circuit case between two artificial sugar manufacturers and their claims of false and misleading advertisements. (9/08)
